There is so much choice when it comes to best restaurants in Killarney town that it really is difficult to choose the best restaurants in Killarney. I’m going to start off talking about Treyvaud’s restaurant on Main Street right in the heart of Killarney town. When it comes to fine dining in Killarney Treyvaud’s will be pretty high up on any list you care to read.
This truly is a family affair. Brothers Mark and Paul are fantastic creative chefs. Their father, Michel, prepares many delicacies on ‘Wild Game Night’ held in November each year. Dishes have included pan-fried venison sausage, wild boar terrine and wild rabbit terrine. If you enjoy steak and Guinness pie served with mash you will find your heaven here! Other dishes available here include fillet of ostrich or a roast saddle of rabbit. This truly is one of Killarney Town’s dining out gems.
The Shire Bar and Café is an unusual business close to the centre of the town. There is a seating area outside the Shire where customers are invited to dine or enjoy a drink when the weather is good.
The dining at the Shire caters to a different pocket than that to be found in Treyvaud’s. An example of this can be seen in the Irish Breakfast which costs only €8 and for that you get 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 1 egg, toast and pudding. That’s a lovely bit of value in a bar which has as it’s theme the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy inspired by J.R.R Tolkien.
Lord of the Rings themed cocktails are available to round off your meal in middle earth! For a centrally located business with a good range of food and drinks, the Shire is a great value proposition for all visitors to Killarney.
No list of best restaurants in Killarney would be complete without the inclusion of a sea food restaurant. And this is where Quinlan’s Seafood Bar comes in! Now, I’m not the most adventurous fan of seafood but Quinlan’s has a magic impact on me! When I first became a customer here, I was attracted by the beautiful battered cod served with golden fried chips and mushy peas. I would recommend this meal to anyone, particularly those with a more hearty appetite.
However, these days I tend to go for prawn and salmon based dishes, of which there are several. Quinlan’s own their own fishing boats, so freshness of produce is guaranteed. Chances are it’s only a matter of hours since you meal was swimming around in the sea!! You won’t get fresher than Quinlan’s.
These are three of my recommendations for best restaurant in Killarney. Give them a try and see what you think, we would love to hear your feedbac
