Where should I go for a drink in Killarney?
Well, where shouldn’t you go for a drink in Killarney!?
Fancy a Pint and a tasty Snack?
If you enjoy a good pint of Guinness there are several pubs I would recommend. Firstly, I’d introduce you to Murphy’s Bar on College Street. Murphy’s Bar is a traditional pub with stone walls and wooden beams to bring you back to yesteryear. Traditional music will help you wash down a pint or two and there is a handy enough bar menu available too.
How About a Cocktail or Two?!
Are you more of a Cocktail drinker? Are you hoping to show your sophisticated nature!? There’s no better place to go than the Ross Hotel whether you’re looking for sex on the beach ( vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice and cranberry juice, all over ice) or Chilli Chilli Bang Bang ( lime and chilli infused tequila, cointreau, lemon, agave – over ice with a sugar rim).
Watch all the Sporting Action in a Killarney Pub
Well, where do I start here….. Okay, the Speakeasy up on High Street. This is a great bar in Killarney to keep an eye on TV sporting events. In my experience horse racing is one of the best loved sports the locals enjoy in this bar. I got a couple of tips last time I was in and while I didn’t strike it rich, the bookie across the road paid for a few pints for me!
The Failte Bar in the centre of town is also great for sports. A big screen to the rear of the bar lets you have a fantastic view of all the sporting action. The Cube lounge, with multiple screens located around the area is another bar I would recommend. But beware, the huge leather sofas and armchairs will make you feel so comfortable you won’t want to leave!
Late Bars in Killarney with Music
There are two places I would recommend for a late drink in Killarney. The first of these is the Grand, situated on Main Street. There is always a great atmosphere in the Grand with plenty of music 7 nights a week. Covid has had it’s run and the Grand will shortly be reopening after a refurb. I will be heading in as soon as I can and will update you about the changes.
The other late bar I would head to most nights is McSorleys. There is a great area out the back for the smokers amongst you and many nights there will be a mixture of live or piped music. McSorleys is a laid back and friendly bar for a late drink and a dance with always the chance of making new friends.
There are many other bars in Killarney which are well worth a visit but these are some that I would suggest visiting first!
